Just like to mention a minor ‘blip’. My tickets have yet to arrive at Aeroflot offices in UB. They are now saying Friday. Why do I always have this sort of ‘last minute crisis?’ It must be me.
Yesterday I helped Mavis to pack up and clear out the surplus stuff from the apartment. We had to deliver plants, DVDs etc to other vols, VSO offices and Mavis’s office. But the unexpected delight came in the evening with a visit to the opera house for a concert. This was some sort of ‘University Olympiad’ and was a mix of Classical, Traditional and Modern music, song and dance. The place was full to capacity and we had a box. It was an absolute treat and for us a perfect way to leave Mongolia!. One of my favourite items was a youthful choir which sang the ‘Hallelluia Chorus’ from Handel’s ‘Messiah’ in English. But I have to say, the ‘fat lady’ was also in good voice!
Tired but happy, we then went home and sipped our wine.
