Well, things are moving fast and changing by the hour. Remember, Mongolia is the capital of spontaneity, ad hocism, and a multitude of other similar descriptive terms for unplanned events. Mavis just discovered that she leaves Mongolia on Friday morning at eight am, by train for Moscow. She has still to work out how she will travel from there to her home in the south of Italy. Hmmmm…….. challenging, that one. Lots of ends to be tied for her. Wait a minute……… this is deja vu, all over again. I just did all this, last week!!!
She had a farewell working dinner last evening, but I straggled home and collapsed on the sofa after a heavy day of interviews and report writing. Tonight, we are both guests of honour at a volunteers’ farewell cream cake bash organised by Sophie. Interestingly, the venue has had to be changed several times as the numbers have swelled. Now, we understand, it will be held at the larger apartment of Natalie, a colleague of Mavis. All UB vols are invited, so that could be a sizeable group. Meanwhile, I also need to change my plans, now that Mavis is leaving in a couple of days I must help with her preparations. I have permission to stay on in her lovely apartment, but shall I go to Darhan or will Deb come back here – that is the dilemma? All this is exacerbated by the fact that I have no credit cards and cash is running low. I really don’t want to have tugriks left over, so I am trying to ‘make do’. Interesting times?
Have included Sophie’s email for your amusement:-
Here we go, another one!
